NAPA 4006 Fuel Filter Cross Reference
The NAPA Gold 4006 is not a vehicle fuel filter. It is a 1-12 thread spin-on for fuel dispensing pumps and storage tanks, about 5.2 to 5.4 in tall. Its equivalents are WIX 24006, Baldwin BF955, Cim-Tek 70010 (the 300-10) and Purolator F54725, and the longer version is NAPA 4347, WIX 24347 or Fill-Rite F1810PM0.
NAPA 4006 Equivalents by Brand
WIX's lookup sends the NAPA Gold 4006 to its 24006, and Baldwin's search sends both to its BF955. I confirmed each row below by searching that brand's number in one or both lookups.
| Brand | 4006 equivalent | Confirmed by |
|---|---|---|
| WIX | 24006 (24006MP multipack) | WIX, Baldwin |
| Baldwin | BF955 | Baldwin |
| Cim-Tek | 70010 (300-10) | WIX, Baldwin |
| Purolator | F54725 | WIX, Baldwin |
| Conoco | CN24006 | Baldwin |
Purolator's F54725 shows as discontinued in WIX's lookup for its AIO line. WIX also sends Purolator's F71601 to the 24006 together with the 24001 base, so that number is a filter and head kit rather than the filter alone.
Why the Number Starts With 24
NAPA Gold numbers are WIX numbers with the first digit dropped, so the 4006 decodes to WIX 24006. That breaks the usual shortcut, because WIX's vehicle fuel filters sit in the 33000 block, and the 24000 block is where WIX's cabin air filters sit.
The dispensing filters are the exception. They live in the 24000 block next to the cabin filters, so a NAPA number starting with 4 can be a fuel filter as well as a cabin filter.
A Bare "4006" Can Be Four Different Filters
Search WIX's lookup for 4006 without a brand and it returns four unrelated parts. Only one is the NAPA fuel filter.
| Brand | Its "4006" | What WIX crosses it to |
|---|---|---|
| NAPA Gold | Dispensing fuel filter | 24006, 1-12 spin-on |
| Crosland | Fuel filter | 33167, a 113 mm fuel cartridge |
| Micro-Gard | Cabin air filter | 24812, a GM cabin panel |
| Teho | Oil filter | WL7098, a 3/4-16 spin-on |
Baldwin's search agrees on the split, sending the NAPA 4006 to its BF955 and the Crosland 4006 to its F953-F fuel element. Always search the brand and the number together.
NAPA 4006 Size and Specs
WIX lists the 24006 at 5.2 in (132 mm) tall and 3.674 in wide on a 1-12 thread, with a 2.729 by 2.415 in gasket, 300 psi burst and 15 GPM maximum flow. WIX describes it as a UL-approved dispensing pump filter that can be used with gasoline or diesel.
| Spec | WIX 24006 | Baldwin BF955 | NAPA's listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Height | 5.2 in (132 mm) | 5 3/8 in (136.5 mm) | 5.38 in |
| Outside diameter | 3.674 in (93 mm) | 93.7 mm | 3.68 in |
| Micron rating | 10 nominal | 4 nominal, 15 absolute | 15 |
| Thread | 1-12 | 1-12 | 1-12 |
Three Micron Ratings for One Filter
WIX rates the 24006 at 10 micron nominal. Baldwin rates the BF955 at 4 micron nominal and 15 micron absolute, and NAPA's own product listing for the 4006 gives a plain 15 micron.
The three figures are not necessarily in conflict, because a nominal and an absolute rating measure different things. But NAPA's single "15" matches Baldwin's absolute figure, not WIX's nominal one, and its listed application, "Purolator Optional Filter Housings", is word for word Baldwin's.
WIX's own catalogue does not agree with itself either. Its international catalogue page for the 24006MP lists a maximum flow of 45.4 L/min, about 12 GPM, against 15 GPM in the US lookup, and a minimum flow higher than its maximum.
One Base, Three Lengths
The 4006 is the short member of a family that shares one base and one gasket. WIX's notes on each part point to the others: a longer filter, a version with a water drain, and the base they all thread onto.

| NAPA | WIX | Height | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4006 | 24006 | 132 mm | Standard dispensing filter |
| 4347 | 24347 | 177 mm | Longer version |
| 4348 | 24348 | 192 mm | Fuel/water separator with drain |
| 4001 or 4034 | 24001 or 24034 | Base | Mounting head (the 24001 has 1 in ports) |
WIX's 24347 is 6.987 in tall and lists Volvo, Kenworth, Peterbilt and Ackerman applications alongside fuel pumps. The 24348 adds a drain at 7.578 in, and the 24001 base is listed for the 24006, 24027, 24347 and 24348.
Fill-Rite's 10 Micron Filter Is the Long One
WIX sends the Fill-Rite F1810PM0 to its 24347, not the 24006, and Baldwin sends it to its BF971. Baldwin lists the BF971 at 7 1/8 in (181 mm), the long version of the BF955.
So a Fill-Rite F1810PM0 is not a drop-in for a NAPA 4006 where height is tight. It is the NAPA 4347's equivalent.
How to Choose a Dispensing Filter
On a farm or fleet storage tank, the choice is micron rating and water handling more than brand. Owners on a TractorByNet thread about diesel storage tank filters described running a coarse 5 to 30 micron filter before a 2 micron one, or a single 10 micron water-blocking spin-on.
- Match the thread and base. The 4006 family is 1-12, and WIX's 24001 base has 1 in ports.
- Pick the length your head clears. The 4006 is the short one; the 4347 and 4348 need about 45 to 60 mm more room.
- Choose the 4348 if you want a drain, since it is the version WIX lists as a fuel/water separator.
- Fit it on the pump outlet, as owners in that thread advise, so it does not restrict suction.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the WIX equivalent of the NAPA 4006? The WIX 24006. NAPA Gold numbers are WIX numbers with the first digit removed, and WIX's lookup returns the 24006 for the NAPA 4006. WIX lists it as a 5.2 in spin-on on a 1-12 thread, 10 micron nominal, for gasoline or diesel dispensing pumps.
Is the NAPA 4006 a vehicle fuel filter? No. NAPA and WIX both list it for fuel dispensing pumps and storage tanks, not for a vehicle's fuel line. The longer member of the family, the WIX 24347, is the one WIX also lists for some Volvo, Kenworth and Peterbilt applications.
What micron is the NAPA 4006? It depends on whose figure you read. WIX rates its 24006 at 10 micron nominal, Baldwin rates its BF955 equivalent at 4 micron nominal and 15 micron absolute, and NAPA's listing says 15 micron. The nominal and absolute ratings measure different things, so they are not directly comparable.
Is the Cim-Tek 300-10 the same as the NAPA 4006? Yes. WIX's lookup sends the Cim-Tek 70010, which is the 300-10, to the same 24006, and Baldwin lists the Cim-Tek number on its BF955 page. The Fill-Rite F1810PM0 is different: both WIX and Baldwin cross it to the longer version.
What to Do Next
If your tank head takes a NAPA 4006, any filter in the first table fits. If you need more capacity or a water drain, the 4347 and 4348 thread onto the same base, so measure the clearance under the head before you buy the longer can.
