FL-910S Oil Filter Cross Reference: Every Motorcraft FL910S Equivalent

Share
Two oil filters of the same size with 3/4-16 and M22 threads: same size, won't fit

The Motorcraft FL-910S is a 3/4-16 spin-on, about 86 mm tall, for Ford 2.0, 2.3 and 2.5 litre four-cylinders. Its equivalents are WIX 51348, Purolator L10241, Bosch 3330, NAPA Gold 1348, K&N HP-1002 and Baldwin B7491. Many 2023-on Ford EcoBoost engines now take the metric FL-2127 instead, which is a different filter.

The Ford numbers behind the FL-910S are BE8Z-6731-AB and the older 1S7Z-6731-DA, and both cross to the same WIX 51348. The earlier FL-910 without the S, and the EFL910, land on the same parts.

Why the FRAM Answer Needs a Second Look

FRAM's own site does not accept a Motorcraft number, and its PH3614 page lists no competitor numbers at all. The PH3614 is the FRAM part that carries the Ford four-cylinder applications: its application list carries Ford four-cylinders from the 2003 Focus 2.3L through the 2026 Ranger 2.3L, among more than 4,000 rows.

Baldwin does not treat the two as one filter. Baldwin's search sends the FL-910S and BE8Z-6731-AB to its B7491, but sends the FRAM PH3614 to its B40036 for Mazda or BT223 for everything else, and splits the WIX 51348 four ways by make.

FL-910S Size and Bypass, by Brand

Ford publishes no dimensions or bypass setting for the FL-910S. Its Motorcraft pages give one efficiency line for the whole range, covered in the Motorcraft cross reference, so the equivalents' own spec sheets are the only numbers available.

EquivalentHeightThreadBypass setting
WIX 513483.404 in (86 mm)3/4-168 to 11 psi
FRAM PH36143.430 in (87 mm)3/4-1612 psi
Baldwin B749189.7 mm3/4-1614 PSID
Baldwin BT22388.9 mm3/4-168 PSID

The cans agree within a few millimetres, but the bypass settings run from 8 to 14 psi for the same Ford application. WIX rates the 51348 at 8 to 11 psi, 275 psi burst and 21 micron nominal, while Baldwin's Ford-specific B7491 opens at 14 PSID and lists no anti-drainback valve.

With no Ford figure to check against, none of these can be called the correct setting. The B7491 is the only one of the four whose page names the FL-910S and Ford BE8Z-6731-AB as compatible numbers.

FL-910S or FL-2127? The 2023-On EcoBoost Change

Owners of Ford's newer 2.0L and 2.3L EcoBoost engines report that their manuals call for the Motorcraft FL-2127, and many first took it for a renumbered FL-910S. It is not: the FL-2127 crosses to a different filter with a metric thread.

fl-910s and fl-2127 side by side
The FL-910S and the FL-2127 are within 2 mm of each other in height, but WIX's equivalents put the FL-910S on a 3/4-16 thread with an 8 to 11 psi bypass and the FL-2127 on an M22 x 1.5 thread with a 22 psi bypass, so one cannot be fitted in place of the other.

WIX crosses the FL-2127 to its WL10290, an M22 x 1.5 can rated at 22 psi bypass, and Baldwin crosses it to the B7422, the part it gives for GM's PF64. That puts the FL-2127 in the same family as the FRAM PH12060, not the FL-910S.

Which Ford Engines Moved to the FL-2127

FRAM's application lists show where the line falls. The PH3614 covers these engines up to the years in the left column, and the PH12060 picks them up from the years in the right column.

Vehicle and enginePH3614 (FL-910S type)PH12060 (FL-2127 type)
Lincoln Corsair 2.0L2020 to 20222023 to 2026
Lincoln Nautilus 2.0L2019 to 20232024 to 2026
Mustang 2.3L2015 to 20232024 to 2026
Explorer 2.3L2016 to 20242025 to 2027
Maverick 2.0L2022 to 20242025 to 2026
Escape 2.0L2013 to 20262023 to 2026
Ranger 2.3L2004 to 20262025 to 2026
Bronco 2.3L2021 to 20252025 to 2026
Bronco Sport 2.0L2021 to 20262025 to 2026

The last four rows overlap, with FRAM listing both filters for the same model years. WIX's principal-application notes put the Bronco, Explorer, Maverick, Mustang and Ranger on the 51348 through 2024 and on the WL10290 from 2025, list the Escape on both for 2023 and 2024, and keep the Mustang a year longer than FRAM does, so in the overlap years the thread on the old filter decides it.

Owners of the 2023 and 2024 Corsair 2.0L found the change the hard way. In a Bob Is the Oil Guy thread on the FL-2127, a 2024 Corsair owner reported that the specified filter has a metric thread and is not interchangeable with the FL-910S.

What Replaced the FL-910S for Service: the FL-2123-B12

The FL-2123-B12 is a different story from the FL-2127. Ford's 2022 Motorcraft brochure for its Original Equipment Performance range, document OM-PRJ-2201-0110, lists the FL-2123-B12 as the cross-reference for the FL910SB12, with nylon-core, non-metallic end caps and a silicone anti-drainback valve.

So the FL-2123-B12 is the 3/4-16 service alternative to the FL-910S, built to a different design. A 2024 Ranger 2.3 owner who cut one open after 3,000 miles found bonded fibre end caps, a silicone valve and wide pleat spacing at the seam, and forum members judged it a Champion Laboratories build rather than the older Purolator-pattern FL-910S.

Neither WIX nor Baldwin returns anything for the FL-2123-B12 yet. Cross it as an FL-910S, which is what Ford's brochure says it replaces.

What the FL-910S Fits

WIX's principal-application note for the 51348 covers Ford, Lincoln and Mercury from 2003 to 2019, the Escape, Bronco, Explorer, Maverick, Mustang and Ranger through 2024, and Mazda from 2005 to 2018. FRAM's PH3614 list shows the same pattern across the Ford 2.0L, 2.3L and 2.5L four-cylinders in the Focus, Fusion, Escape, Edge, Ranger, Mustang, Explorer, Bronco, Bronco Sport and Maverick.

The same can also fits a long list of Toyota, Lexus, Chrysler and Mazda engines, which is why the WIX 51348 is one of the most widely shared sizes in the catalogue. That breadth is also why the Baldwin and FRAM answers split by make: a Mazda-labelled box and a Ford-labelled box can be the same size with different internals.

How to Cross Reference an FL-910S

  1. Check the thread on the old filter if the vehicle is a 2023-or-later EcoBoost. A 3/4-16 filter is the FL-910S family; an M22 x 1.5 filter is the FL-2127 family.
  2. For an FL-910S, use WIX 51348, Purolator L10241, Bosch 3330, NAPA Gold 1348, K&N HP-1002 or Baldwin B7491.
  3. For an FL-2127, use WIX WL10290, Baldwin B7422 or the FRAM 12060 family, never an FL-910S.
  4. Treat FRAM's PH3614 as the FL-910S size, but know that Baldwin builds a separate Ford-specific part for this application.
  5. Accept the FL-2123-B12 as an FL-910S substitute, since Ford's own brochure lists it that way.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the WIX equivalent of the Motorcraft FL-910S? The WIX 51348, or the 51348XP in WIX's synthetic line. WIX's lookup returns both for the FL-910S, the FL910SB12 and the Ford numbers BE8Z-6731-AB and 1S7Z-6731-DA. WIX rates the 51348 at 86 mm tall on a 3/4-16 thread with an 8 to 11 psi bypass.

Is the FL-2127 the same as the FL-910S? No. WIX crosses the FL-2127 to its M22 x 1.5 WL10290 and Baldwin to its B7422, the parts both give for GM's PF64, while the FL-910S is a 3/4-16 filter. The two are close in size but will not thread onto each other's engine.

Is the FRAM PH3614 the same as the FL-910S? It is the FRAM part FRAM lists for the same Ford four-cylinder engines, and it is the same 3/4-16 size within a millimetre. Baldwin does not merge them: it gives the FL-910S its Ford-specific B7491 and the PH3614 its B40036 or BT223.

What replaced the Motorcraft FL-910S? For service, Ford's 2022 Motorcraft brochure lists the FL-2123-B12 as the cross-reference for the FL910SB12. For many 2023-on 2.0L and 2.3L EcoBoost engines, Ford specifies the FL-2127 instead, which is a different metric-thread filter rather than a replacement.

What to Do Next

Before you order, turn the old filter over and check the thread against the year of the engine. If it is 3/4-16, any FL-910S equivalent above fits; if it is metric, you are looking for an FL-2127, and the 12060 cross reference covers that family.
